The Office of Equity & Inclusion (OEI) is committed to the ongoing work of fostering a Bates community where everyone can thrive. In collaboration with our partners all across campus, we offer professional learning opportunities to employees and students as we aim to identify and mitigate barriers to access and to increase a sense of belonging.

Our Equity & Inclusion Outreach Ambassadors will serve as an integral part of the OEI team, with a primary focus on developing social media communications, creating promotional materials for office-sponsored events, and serving as a community liaison between the OEI and the Bates student body.

Qualifications, Requirements, and Responsibilities

Responsibilities


- Develop and manage social media communications to promote the mission, events, and initiatives of the OEI. -Create visually engaging promotional materials (e.g., flyers, graphics, newsletters) for OEI-sponsored events and programs. - Support planning and execution of OEI events, including promotion and student engagement strategies. - Engage with diverse student groups and campus organizations to build relationships and promote inclusive participation in OEI activities. - Assist in gathering data and feedback from the student body on the effectiveness of OEI communications and programming.

Requirements


- Familiarity with major social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) and an interest in creating engaging content for student audiences. - Basic design skills. Experience using tools like Canva or similar platforms to create flyers, graphics, or promotional materials preferred. - Clear and inclusive communication skills, both written and verbal, appropriate for peer-to-peer outreach and event promotion. - Demonstrated commitment to community and belonging, with a willingness to engage respectfully with students from all backgrounds and collaborate with a variety of campus groups. - Good time management skills, with the ability to complete assigned tasks accurately, independently, and reliably within limited weekly hours. - Reliability and professionalism, including attending scheduled meetings and maintaining open communication with the OEI team.

Reporting


Reports directly to the Equity & Inclusion Program Manager and works closely with fellow Outreach Ambassador.
