CS: Student Dispatcher (S9740B)

Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

This position is responsible for monitoring and answering the service phone for call-in transportation requests, and communicating and coordinating ride requests with the available drivers in service, using 2-way radio. The Student Dispatcher will need to be able to professionally relay the assignment of priorities given to requests as established through the supervisory Coordinator. Communication is critical to this position, and will be expected that the person demonstrates strong and courteous communication skills, both verbally and with written notations. 

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • The ability to demonstrate very good customer service skills in a pleasant tone of voice.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Keen attention to detail necessary for successful documentation, planning and execution.
  • Proficiency in basic written data management using a ledger style log sheet for keeping record of calls and dispatches.
  • Ability to actively keep track of status with the information being communicated.
  • Willingness and ability to learn additional applications as needed.
  • Impeccable organizational (time, task, detail management) skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills using voice over media (telephone, radio), with the ability to relay important information adequately for mutual understanding of the message.
  • Ability to communicate verbal details extemporaneously without excessive or unnecessary wording.
