Class of 1948 reunion 2008

Class Secretary: Roberta Sweetser McKinnell, 38 Hornbeam Rd., Duxbury MA 02332

Class President: Vivienne Sikora Gilroy, 1009 Ridge Dr., Union NJ 07083, vgilroy@highstream.net

George Billias reports that "after 20 years, I succeeded in finishing the manuscript of my book: Heard Round the World: The Influence of American Constitutionalism Abroad, 1776-1989. I could not have done it without Margaret, my wife, my textual editor, my everything. We pushed the 800-pound gorilla out of the house, and it's now in the hands of a publisher being evaluated.... Brenton Dodge and Karen enjoyed an 18-day Elderhostel trip in June, following the Lewis and Clark expedition route from St. Louis to the Pacific Ocean. Bud and Ella '50 Wilmot were also along.... Jeanne Mather Roach was awarded third place in still life at the San Gabriel Valley Fine Arts Assn.'s spring show last year. Along with five other water colorists, she is planning a group show for August 2005. On a sad note, husband Joseph died in February 2004.... John Radebaugh writes: "Continuing to write a memoir, House Calls with John, now in its sixth rewriting. Dotty and I have settled in Ocean View, a retirement community near Portland, Maine.... The fascination with maintaining an old house and a lot of land and trees has diminished, says Peregrin Schwarzer. The obstacle to downsizing is that "we (no, I) have collected/acquired a lot of good stuff - antiques, art, scientific instruments, furniture - that takes up a considerable amount of space."… Leighton Shields still teaches full time at Massasoit Community College in Brockton, Mass., where Charles Wall '67 is president…. Since retirement, Robert Vail has served as a Peace Corps volunteer, a member of the Auburn School Board, a court-appointed special advocate for abused and neglected children, and president of Graham Junior College.
