Declaring a Major/Minor

  • Talk to anyone in EACS (faculty/staff/students) to learn more about the major, minor, and concentrations.
  • When you are ready to declare, schedule a meeting with Dr. Beverly Johnson EACS’s undergraduate curriculum coordinator. . Here you will talk about the curriculum and loosely map out the courses you need to complete your major. You will also be assigned an academic advisor from a faculty member in the EACS department. (Your academic advisor in EACS will take over from your First Year Advisor and will be able to advise you on course selection and study abroad within the context of your major, among other things. He/she may or may not be your thesis advisor.)
  • After meeting with Dr. Johnson , declare your major on the Garnet Gateway. In the “Students” section and under “Degree”, follow the prompts under “Declare Majors, Minors, and Concentrations.”
  • Once you declare as a major or a minor, you will become part of the EACS community. You will receive emails about departmental functions, summer internships, and any other announcements relevant to the major.
