Student Employment Office

The Committee Selection Board is a distinct and independent branch of Bates College Student Government that oversees the process of selecting Bates students to serve on a variety of Bates committees and boards that have student representatives/committee members. CSB works collaboratively with Campus Life, Bates Faculty and other campus partners to ensure that students are selected to committees through equitable, transparent, and accessible processes. CSB aims to select the best candidates for the various positions based on criteria set forth by the committee chairs or other governing body. The workload of CSB members varies throughout the semester. Students can expect to work between 1-6 hours per week throughout the semester, depending on workload.

About this Job: The main purpose of the Bates College Student Government (BCSG) Committee Selection Board (CSB) is responsible for selecting students to serve on campus committees and boards that include student positions. CSB ensures the selection process runs smoothly and that all student roles are filled efficiently. As an impartial body, CSB is committed to appointing the most qualified candidates for each position based on fair and transparent evaluation. About this Job The Bates College Student Government (BCSG) Secretary is responsible for BCSG, BCSG Funding & Activities Board (FAB), and BCSG Committee Selection Board (CSB) communications and record keeping, and is a vital position that maintains BCSG’s history and continuity of operations. Funding & Activities Advisors (FAAs) work closely with Campus Life staff on implementing the logistical and financial elements of the BCSG-recognized club system. Generally, FAB reviews club funding applications and renders decisions for all BCSG-recognized club accounts, and reviews and renders decisions on new club applications. FAAs also serve as peer event advisors and program coordinators to assist with the process of club and organization event planning from start to finish.
