Global Ambassadors

The Bates College Global Ambassadors are a team of Bates students who work on programs, events, peer-advising, marketing, and more in collaboration with the Center for Global Education. These students are leaders in thinking about how Bates connects to the world and how the world can connect to Bates.

Nakelm Nicholson ’25

My name is Nakelm Nicholson, and I’m a first generation senior at Bates College. I’m from Brooklyn, NYC. This past semester has been full of adventure, and knowledge. I pursued an opportunity to participate in an off-campus study abroad at the University of Cape Town, in Cape Town, South Africa. Coming in as a Global Ambassador, I plan to implement my study abroad experience to learn about Global Education’s values, working together with a supportive team to succeed in our office mission. I look forward to connecting with everyone!

Olivia Reynolds ’25

she/her

Olivia is a senior from Cumberland, Maine majoring in Sociology and Hispanic Studies. Having studied at various points in Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, New Zealand, and Spain, Olivia is as much an abroad enthusiast as she is one for Maine. She loves running, puzzling, the ocean, and cooking with friends.

Jangmin Song ’25

Jangmin is an international student from Tokyo, Japan. Jangmin majors in mathematics and minors in digital computational studies and Chinese. Jangmin studied in Budapest, Hungary studying computer science.

Axelle Tougouma ’27

My name is Axelle Tougouma and I am an international student from Burkina Faso. I am a sophomore willing to double major in economics and mathematics. During the course of my academic journey I got the opportunity to study abroad in Thailand and the US.  My perspective of the world as a wonderful place to explore and learn from others has been shaped by those experiences that I cherish. I am excited to work at the Center for Global Education and can’t wait to meet many of you.
