Jack is a senior double majoring in politics and sociology. While raised primarily in Maine, he has also lived with his family in France, the Czech Republic and Thailand over the years. Jack studied abroad for a semester in Stockholm, Sweden, as a junior and participated in a student exchange program in Edinburgh, Scotland, during high school. Jack’s experiences away from home have informed his belief that traveling allows individuals to grow as learners, to gather new perspectives about the world, and to develop enhanced senses of independence. He looks forward to sharing this enthusiasm with the Bates community and to meeting people interested in global education.

Francisca Rocha ’24

she/her
Office Hours: 9 – 11 AM on Wednesday

Hello! My name is Francisca Rocha, and I am an international student from Porto, Portugal. Before coming to Bates I moved to Pune, India to complete my high school education at UWC Mahindra College. During the Fall semester of my junior year, I studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark with DIS learning about biotechnology and drug development, and I am currently a double major in Biochemistry and Mathematics. As both an international student and someone who studied abroad, the Centre for Global Education has been a fundamental part of my Bates experience. Having had the opportunity to travel and live in different countries and continents, I know how these experiences can really lead to a paradigm shift and big moments of personal growth, so I am very excited to help more students have these experiences and contribute to the excellent work the Center for Global Education does!
