FS: Seasonal Painter

Executing all varieties of painting related maintenance, renovation, and repair projects on campus. Uses high quality painting skills, works well with scheduling and other members of the Paint Shop.

FS: Student Snow Shoveler

Students will work with other Bates students and Facility Services staff, shoveling snow from walkways, entries, stairs and ramps around the campus.

FS: Landscape Assistant

Landscape Assistants work mainly outdoors. These students must be able to bend, stoop, lift, carry, and perform tasks requiring moderate strength. Gardening hand tools and equipment will be used often.

FS: Student Sweeper

Description: Student sweepers sweep select large dormortories and academic buildings around campus between 7:00AM and midnight when Custodial Services personnel are present in the assigned building. Sweepers must be capable of ascending and descending flights of stairs and using a broom. Please contact the Custodial Supervisor for specific building assignments and times available.

FS: Mays Center Building Manager

The Building Manager will interview, hire, oversee and dismiss Monitors if necessary. He or she must be familiar with the policies governing these procedures and must be able to arrange for coverage for the building. The Building Manager must be familiar with and enforce the adherence to the MSDS (Maine Safety Data Sheets). This student must also be able to arrange for coverage in the event that a scheduled person is ill, etc. In the event that a replacement Monitor cannot be found, then it is the responsibility of the Building Manager(s) to cover the necessary hours. FS: Benjamin Mays Center Monitor

Benjamin Mays Center Monitors are responsible for ensuring that events held at the Mays Center run smoothly. Monitors must be familiar with the physical plan of the building and all of the policies attached to the use of the facility. Monitors must be alert to security of the building and feel comfortable calling Bates Security if any serious problems or emergencies arise. Monitors are expected to extend the hospitality of the college to fellow students, faculty, and staff and make people feel welcome.
