Campus Activities and Traditions (CAT) oversees large- and small-scale events, traditions and programs on the Bates campus designed to meet the interests of Bates students and create a lively, inclusive community. CAT oversees and plans events over the course of the academic year. CAT’s First Year Experience Coordinator will oversee large- and small-scale events, traditions, and programs on the Bates campus with the goal of making the event appealing to First-Year Students. The First Year Experience Coordinator works closely with the CAT Manager, and CAT Advisor for each CAT sponsored event, tradition, and program. The First Year Experience Coordinator will also work closely with Assistant Director for First-Year Experience and Campus Life.

CAT Assistant Managers oversee large- and small-scale events, traditions, and programs on the Bates campus designed to meet the interests of Bates students and create a lively, inclusive community. The Assistant Managers work closely with the CAT Manager and CAT Advisor on planning the logistics, staffing, and finances of each CAT sponsored event, tradition, and program. The Campus Life Student Office Assistant supports the daily operations and projects of Campus Life. Student Office Assistants work on a regular, weekly basis, and are a frontline point of contact for students with Campus Life and club/organization needs, especially after regular Campus Life Office hours. About this Position: Campus Life Equity & Inclusion Peer Advisors serve as a trusted resource for students engaged with BCSG-recognized clubs and Campus Life-supported organizations. Their primary role is to serve as consultants on issues relating to equity and inclusion, including but not limited to, creating and sustaining inclusive environments, ensuring consistency in club/org constitutions, leadership selection and development, and promoting a sense of belonging. Each Equity & Inclusion Peer Advisor will be assigned to support several specific Campus Life student organizations closely, as well as oversee a cohort of approximately 15-20 clubs to provide assistance as needed. Campus Activities & Traditions (CAT) Managers coordinate all work and activities of the programming board, and represent the programming board to the Bates community. The core job responsibility of the Managers is to ensure CAT is running smoothly, and address issues – logistical, interpersonal, emergency, etc. – accordingly. The E-Room Managers are responsible for the upkeep and running of the outdoor equipment room. This includes staffing e-room hours, working with Booqable our online inventory management system, keeping the E-Room tidy, and assisting Bates Outing Club trip leaders in accessing gear for Outing Club trips. The managers will be directly supervised by the Coordinator of Outdoor Education and Programs and will meet regularly with the COEP.

The Outdoor Programs Managers will work closely with the Coordinator of Outdoor Education and Programs to plan and manage all activities put on by the Bates Outing Club. The OPM’s will hold a big picture view for the BOC which will include setting goals at the beginning of the year and tracking progress on those goals. They will manage the committee chairs for the BOC and hold the committees accountable to their goals. They will also work with the COEP and the Trip Leaders to set a trip calendar for each semester at the beginning of the semester. Restorative Practices Advisors (RPAs) serve as a resource on campus to students and student groups in the areas of conflict mediation and restorative practices. RPAs proactively provide education and outreach to the Bates community, seeking to engage students, faculty, and staff in meaningful conversations that will strive to build community and establish mutual respect. These educational programs will have the overarching goal of helping individuals and communities develop the capacity to communicate effectively and work through conflicts as they arise. RPAs also serve as resources to students and student groups who may be experiencing conflict, or moving through a student misconduct resolution process through the Office of Community Standards. About this Job: The Senior Week Co-Chairs are directly supervised by Campus Life staff and work with a variety of campus partners in supporting and promoting activities to celebrate the senior class, primarily events occurring during Senior Week; the week prior to Commencement. Due to the scope of the work, Two Co-Chairs are typically selected each year as individual hires that will work as a pair. The Social Media Coordinator for the Office of Campus Life is responsible for supporting social media needs for Campus Life, which include: developing and maintaining a cohesive and versatile online brand for the office; creating a consistent “personality” in the social media posts made through office accounts; posting to office social mediaaccounts regularly, with a goal of maintaining viewership and increasing followers; developing social media campaigns to engage the campus community; and promoting office and student club events and programs.
