Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

The Diverse BookFinder (https://diversebookfinder.org/) seeks an addition to our team. In particular, we seek a candidate who is as enthusiastic about our mission as they are about attention to detail and research data.

At the Diverse BookFinder, we’ve cataloged and analyzed thousands of trade picture books published or distributed in the U.S. since 2002 to surface and create a one of a kind resource that includes: 1) A Unique Circulating Collection — We collect all depictions of Black and Indigenous people and People of Color (BIPOC) in picture books. Anyone with a library card can check these books out through Interlibrary Loan; 2) A Search Tool — We offer a first-of-its-kind online, searchable database that makes it easier for everyone to locate and explore picture books featuring BIPOC characters; 3) A Source of Critical Data — We provide real-time data on WHO (which BIPOC characters) is depicted and — using our unique book categories — HOW they are depicted in diverse picture books; and 4) A Collection Analysis Tool (CAT) — We offer a free, online tool designed to help libraries diversify their picture book collections.

We offer the opportunity to play a critical role in a small, highly visible national initiative. Our values are Work Smart, Have Fun, Make a Difference.
