Outside Grant Opportunities
Outside Grant Opportunities
Many study abroad programs have grant programs that can reduce their costs. Some of these grants are “merit based” (not based on financial need) while others are “need based.” Most of the grant opportunities require that you be a participant on the specific study abroad program (IES, CIEE, SIT). However, there are some non-program specific opportunities. If you receive financial aid from Bates, outside grants can be used to cover the work-study and loan portions of your aid package. You retain the remaining money unless your Bates grant and outside grant exceed the “Cost of Attendance.”
