Bates College Security and Safety welcomes you to our campus.

We are a 24 hour, 365 day service oriented department with the goal of providing a safe and secure environment, leading by example, through education, and enforcement.

A team of full-time Security Officers patrol the campus on foot, bicycles, and in security vehicles. They are in constant contact with the Communications Officers, who are located in the Security Office at 245 College Street. Bates College Security Officers respond to phone calls directed to Security, including calls from over 140 security phones located throughout the campus.

Officers also work closely with the Lewiston Police and Fire Departments, investigating crimes and incidents on campus. For students residing off campus, Security participates in the Bates Neighborhood Alliance.
