External Food Provider and Food Truck Policy

Outside Food Vendor Liability Insurance Policy

Any college department or organization planning to host an outside food vendor—or serve food provided by an external entity at a college-sanctioned event (excluding those listed below)—must submit a copy of the provider’s liability insurance.

This documentation must be submitted to Chrysta Coulombe, Associate Director of Dining, Conference, and Campus Events, at least five working days prior to the event.

Food Truck Policy

All college departments/organizations that plan to have a food truck on campus  must contact Christine Schwartz, Associate Vice President for Dining, Conferences and Campus Events no less than 15 working days prior to the event. Bates College Catering is the food provider for campus events and as such has first right of refusal. In order for an external food vendor to be considered for service on campus the following must be provided at the time of the request:

  • All vendor information (Name, location) including a current health inspection
  • Date, time, location the event will be taking place and anticipated participation count
  • Proposed Menu
  • Liability insurance
  • Food Truck Specific:
    • Current specs on the vehicle
    • Whether the vehicle is propane or not
    • Any needed utility support from the institution
