Frances Hodsdon(American, 1926-2022)
Hodsdon was born in Portland, Maine and studied at Boston’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts. She later moved to Ohio, where she finished her undergraduate studies at Kent State University and began graduate-level coursework. After her divorce and the death of her father, by 1975 she had returned to Maine to work on her family’s blueberry farm. Here she taught at the University of Maine and Round Top Center for the Arts while maintaining a home studio and creating art inspired by her surroundings, including the lake, blueberries, and tree bark. She is known as a printmaker skilled in many techniques.
