Marsden Hartley and the Museum

The art of Lewiston native Marsden Hartley (1877-1943) is the most significant part of one of the museum’s founding collections, the Marsden Hartley Memorial Collection. This collection, and more broadly, his oeuvre, have been the focus of much work of the museum. This section of the website assembles the museum and Bates’ resources related to this important artist.
