Keith Michell (Australian, 1928-2015)

Michell is known for playing English King Henry VIII perhaps more than any other actor in various productions on stage and television. He remains best known for the 1970s BBC television series The Six Wives of Henry VIII.

Michell attended Adelaide School of Arts and Crafts and Adelaide University before moving to England to join the Young Vic Company. By the 1950s, he was on the West End with many successes where he starred in Shakespeare plays, as well as the Royal Court where he appeared in Don Juan and The Death of Satan in 1956. He also performed in musicals, including Broadway and had a recurring appearance on Murder She Wrote.
