Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

The Props Master works closely with the Scenic Designer to find and/or build props required for department shows. This job requires a diverse range of skills and knowledge. Art history, upholstery, mechanical engineering, painting, crafts, and sculpture skills are called upon at various times. Problem solving skills are also very important.

Please Note: The Props Master must love shopping and know the best places to purchase items. He or she should also be a creative problem solver.

The Props Master works in the Schaeffer Theater, Gannett Theater, Black Box Theater, Costume Shop, and Scene Shop  and will frequently go on shopping trips.

Requirements


The props master must be a Bates student with a valid driver's license having access to a particular mode of transportation. He or she must have taken Theater 132 and/or 231. It is also desired that the props master has some past theater experience.
