Bonner Leader Program

The Bonner Leader Program is an exciting opportunity for students with a passion for experiential learning and community engagement. Bonner Leaders participate in a carefully curated set of learning experiences that highlight self-awareness, commitment to community, cross-cultural understanding, and collective problem-solving. Small cohorts allow for optimal relationship building, peer mentoring, and individual growth. Interactive workshops, guest speakers, reflective writing, team-building activities, and hands-on experiential learning opportunities are designed to meet students where they are while challenging and supporting them as they venture into new spheres of experience and insight. In partnership with community-based organizations in the Lewiston Auburn area, Bonner Leaders pursue experiential learning projects that address challenges such as food access, safe and affordable housing and transportation, refugee and immigrant empowerment and integration, climate justice, youth literacy and aspirations, legal reform, and senior citizen well-being, among other possibilities.

A stipend is awarded each semester for full participation in the program.

Regardless of whether or not you choose to apply for the Bonner Leader Program, we are excited to meet you in the fall, hear about your interests, and let you know about all of the many opportunities to engage with Lewiston/Auburn, your new “home away from home.”

Applications for the Bonner Program are accepted during the summer prior to the start of the academic year.  The deadline for applications for the 2023-2024 academic year is 4:30pm on Monday, July 24.  Click here to apply!
