Paramount Studios (American, founded 1914)

Paramount is the fifth-oldest film studio in the world, and the second-oldest in the United States, behind Universal Pictures. Headquartered within the city of Los Angeles, the stars around the logo represent the first 24 actors signed to the company in 1916. In a time when actors were bound to a particular studio, Paramount signed major silent film stars at the time, including Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, Gloria Swanson, and Rudolph Valentino. The studios were often responsible for their actors’ image, marketing, promotion, and agency as often seen in film stills and glamor shots during the Golden Age of Hollywood.
