Curricular and Research Computing (CRC) seeks self-motivated, energetic students who want hands-on technical experience working with a wide range of technologies. Students will work on various projects in a support capacity, as well as staff the Roger Williams Hall computer lab or the Coram Visualization Lab. These students must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to learn quickly. Duties will involve contributing to projects as assigned, and providing basic instruction and troubleshooting in computer software or hardware problems. Muskie Archives and Special Collections Library and provide administrative support to its staff. The Digital Media Assistant provides client-facing support in the Digital Media Studios. In this role, the incumbent staffs the desk at the equipment exchange, and provides support, consultation and troubleshooting for users of the media lab. In addition, the incumbent may be asked to support the DMS professional staff in the creation of media or in the support of other media production tasks. An interest or passion for filmmaking, photography, technology and/or digital storytelling is desired and a willingness to learn is essential.

The IT Service Desk Technology Assistant will be responsible for providing customer and technical computing assistance to clients within the Bates College Community. The Technology Assistant will work closely with the IT Service Desk Team and Senior Student Technology Assistants to provide superior assistance to the members of the college community. As a Technology Assistant, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, researching and resolving issues related to computer hardware, and software.    

The IT Service Desk Technology Field Assistant will be responsible for providing customer and technical computer assistance to clients within the Bates College Community. You will work closely with the IT Service Desk staff to assist with deliveries, computer pickups, and any other field tickets that come in. The hours of operation for this position are M-F 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

The Student-led AI Design (SAID) Fellow for Humanities is a semester-long undergraduate fellowship to develop student-centered approaches to integrating artificial intelligence into library instruction and research support. The Fellow will evaluate existing library instructional resources, recommend AI-enhanced improvements, and co-create AI literacy materials and lesson plans that support ethical, effective, and accessible use of AI in Humanities research. The Fellow will contribute directly to the modernization of library pedagogy while gaining experience in AI literacy, instructional design, and digital scholarship.
