Life After Bates

As you consider post-Bates plans, we recommend that you:

Investigate international fellowships and graduate scholarships, including the Fulbright and Watson fellowships.  Contact Robert Strong, the Graduate Fellowships Advisor.

Explore work and volunteer opportunities abroad.  The Bates Career Development Center and the Off-Campus Study Office web pages on work and volunteer opportunities abroad are a good starting point.

Consult with an advisor in the Bates Career Development Center how to utilize effectively your study abroad experience when applying for jobs and to graduate school.  Issues to consider include:

  • How to present your study abroad experience in your resume, cover letters and interviews?
  • What skills did your experience enhance?
  • What perspectives did it develop?
