About the June 9th Primaries:

Maine has semi-open primaries, which also allows unenrolled voters (voters not enrolled in a political party) to choose which primary to vote in without switching into the party.

Ranked Choice Voting is used in the primaries, so voters can rank candidates in order of preference instead of choosing one. Voters do not have to rank (or vote) for all the candidates.  If you need a refresher about how ranked choice voting works, please check out the following explainers:

Who’s On My Ballot:

Candidate Races: Democratic voters will have competitive races for U.S. Senate, Governor, Maine’s CD-2, and Lewiston State Senate. Republican voters will see a competitive primary for Governor.
