Campus Ave

Campus Avenue holds the distinction of having some of the newest construction at Bates College. Standing alongside the Bonney Science Center, Chu and Kalperis Halls are the most recently constructed buildings on campus. Further up the Avenue toward Frye Street, are a handful of wood-frame houses, and further down the street is John Bertram Hall – a suite-style residential building for upper class students. Whether one needs to pick up some mail from Post & Print, connect with Student Affairs offices in Chase Hall, or get to Bonney for classes, Campus Avenue is an essential thoroughfare in the lives of Bates students.

The currently being renovated 96 Campus Ave will be available to upper-class students for the 2024-2025 Academic Year. This is located in the same vicinity as John Bertram Hall, sitting on the opposite side of the Campus Ave Field.

Soon to be home for 64 students, 96 Campus Ave will feature a full kitchen on the first floor, common spaces on each floor, quiet study places, and more.

For the 2024-2025 Housing Selection process, only the third floor of 96 Campus Avenue will be available for selection. As this is an active construction project, the exact dates of availability for the first and second floors are yet to be determined. As the end of the project gets closer, we anticipate being able to assign these spaces in the summer placement process for use in Fall ’24 but we will not be able to determine that until the summer.
