Cost Transfers

A cost transfer is an after-the-fact reallocation of direct costs associated with a transaction from one independent grant to another, or from non-grant funding to a grant.

Although costs should always be properly identified as directly related and charged to the correct fund/account initially, cost transfers are sometimes necessary.

To be allowable, cost transfers must be timely, must be fully documented, must conform to Bates College and sponsor allowability standards, and must be approved by the PI’s of each grant affected.

Completed Cost Transfer Forms should submitted to Sponsored Programs and Research Compliance at Coram Library, Room 222A or sparc@bates.edu for processing.
