Be Kind, Be Safe, Have Fun During Winter Carnival 2024

Hello,

Get ready, get set, get excited for Winter Carnival 2024! This week is going to be filled with exciting events, all designed for you to have fun in community with your fellow Batesies. As you participate in events this week, please remember to abide by the Bates College Code of Student Conduct and the Campus Life Event Policy. Our goal is to provide safe programs for all students, which requires your help!

You may be wondering what we mean by “Be Kind, Be Safe, Have Fun” and what that will actually look like. To help explain this we have broken down the messaging with actions to do.

Be Kind Be respectful to all other Bobcats, whether it be a peer or a staff member. Make sure your actions are not having negative impacts on others. Do your part in keeping event spaces organized and clean.

Be Safe Take care of your body! Drink plenty of water, wear appropriate attire, and get plenty of sleep! Take note of any event specific safety measures, especially around Puddle Jump! In crowds/lines keep calm and do not push forward.

Have Fun Be present and aware at the events. Do not push yourself past your own comfort zones. Participate in a variety of the events offered this week.

We also ask that you please consider the amount of time your peers and professional staff members have put into planning this week. Members of Campus Activities & Traditions, the Bates Outing Club, and others have spent weeks putting together these events for you to enjoy while professional staff members from Campus Life, Residence Life, DCCE, Facilities, EH&S and more have collaborated and come together to staff these events for you. Please be respectful of the time and planning that has gone into this week.
