Proposing a Program

Bates College plans the Fall Semester Abroad (FSA) program on a multi-year basis with requests for proposals sent out each winter for fall semester of the following calendar year.

Faculty interested in proposing a Fall Semester Abroad Program should first consult with Darren Gallant, Associate Dean & Director, Center for Global Education, and then review the Fall Semester Abroad web pages for Faculty.

The Off-Campus Study Committee is responsible for recommending programs to the AAC and the Dean of the Faculty. Proposals are submitted to the Center for Global Education, 124 Roger Williams Hall.

A sample budget and proposal narrative are required as part of the proposal process.
The ‘sample budget’ is an example, you may provide a budget in an excel document in the manner that you choose.

The deadline for 2025 FSA proposals is May 1, 2024.
