The New York Bates Network is hosting an exciting event for our New York Bates alumni, parents, and friends this spring. We have scheduled an hour-long tour of the New York Historical Society that includes:

Following our tour, we will have four Bates alumni art experts on hand to discuss and answer your questions about what you have witnessed on the tour. Our experts include Rachel Ebersole ’17 , Samantha Fellers ’19 , Calvin Reedy ’17, and Sophie Jensen ’19.

About the Speakers

Rachel Ebersole ’17

Rachel Ebersole is the Manager of Teen Programs at the New York Historical Society Museum & Library. She manages and facilitates the museum’s suite of digital humanities programs and internships for New York City youth. Rachel also has experience working across a variety of museums and institutions offering quality programming to K-12 visitors with a focus on object-centered and inquiry-based learning, and a highly interdisciplinary, culturally responsive practice.

Rachel earned her B.A. in Classical and Medieval Studies with minors in History and Anthropology from Bates College, where she also worked as a Collections Assistant at the Bates Museum of Art. In 2023, Rachel received her M.A. in museum education and leadership from Bank Street College of Education.

Calvin Reedy ’17

Calvin Reedy joined Schwartzman& in 2021. He manages and oversees the firm’s artist advisory projects, working with artists, estates, foundations, as well as, respective gallery partners. Calvin has a passion for supporting artists, especially emerging talent, and those from historically under-represented backgrounds. He also works with new and emerging collectors to build collections that align with their vision and goals.  

Prior to joining Schwartzman&, Calvin worked at Jack Shainman Gallery as Executive Assistant to the Director, managing sales and working as an artist liaison to coordinate exhibitions as well as the execution of commissions and other outside commitments.

Calvin earned his B.A. in Art & Visual Culture from Bates College, where he also worked for a semester as a Curatorial Assistant at the Bates College Museum of Art and was co-president of the Bates Arts Society.

Samantha Fellers ’19

Samantha Fellers has spent her career working on the bridge of art, technology, and sales at leading companies, including Artsy and Artlogic. She believes in the power of accessible technology and market resources in order to make the art world more equitable for artists, collectors, and galleries.

Samantha earned her B.A. in Art & Visual Culture from Bates College, where she worked as a Curatorial Assistant at the Bates College Museum of Art. During that time, she had internships at the Morris Museum, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and Sotheby’s in London.

Sophie Jensen ’19

Sophie Jensen is a Senior Client Relationship Coordinator in Client Advisory at Christie’s Auction House. Client Advisory works in partnership with the most senior specialists to best advise private collectors on all their purchases at Christie’s across various categories and global sale sites. In her role, she supports the team’s Deputy Chairmen, providing their important clients with bespoke service.

Sophie joined Christie’s in 2021 as a sales coordinator in Old Master Paintings, where she facilitated the department’s biannual live and online auctions. She earned her BA in Arts and Visual Culture at Bates College in 2019 and, in 2021, went on to receive her Masters in Art, Law, and Business at Christie’s Education in New York.

Cost

Registration includes the tour and speaker discussion, as well as refreshments and hors d’oeuvres.
