For Employers: Recruiting at Bates

The Bates Center for Purposeful Work strives to prepare students for the rigors, realities, and rewards of a meaningful career. We partner with employers of all sizes, from small nonprofits to multinational corporations, to match their needs to the skills and abilities of our students.

To post jobs or internships for access by our students, employers are requested to utilize the Handshake platform. If you would like to explore targeted strategies for reaching Bates students with your opportunities, email Hoi Ning Ngai with the Employer Engagement team at the Bates Center for Purposeful Work at hngai@bates.edu.

We expect all employers who recruit at Bates, including through Handshake, to review and abide by our recruiting expectations, guidelines, and policies, including those regarding unpaid internships.

Recruit Bates students and recent graduates

Post your opportunities to Handshake — this is the platform utilized by current students as well as recent graduates to identify internship and job opportunities, so it is critical for employers to post here. If you are a Bates alum or parent, be sure to let us know at purposefulwork@bates.edu because we can code Handshake postings as Bobcat referrals. Additionally, alumni can post directly to closed LinkedIn groups for Bates Alumni and Friends, Boston Bates Business Network, and New York City Bates Business Network.

Hire Bates interns

Post your internships to Handshake — this is the platform utilized by current students as well as recent graduates to identify internship and job opportunities, so it is critical for employers to post here. If you are a Bates alum or parent, be sure to let us know at purposefulwork@bates.edu because we can code Handshake postings as Bobcat connections. Additionally, alumni can post directly to closed LinkedIn groups for Bates Alumni and Friends, Boston Bates Business Network, and New York City Bates Business Network.

Learn more about the Bates Purposeful Work Internship Program to raise the visibility of your internships among our students, foster and support professional development opportunities for your interns and managers, and support the overall internship experience within your organization.
