What is the Bernie Carpenter Fund?

It is an endowed fund established in 1997 in honor of the memory and tradition of helping fellow co-workers, practiced by Bernie Carpenter. It’s about “giving help, when and how it is needed, to those most in need.” It’s available to all employees and is intended for emergencies such as major illnesses, accidents, or similar catastrophes.

Bernie Carpenter Fund and Enrichment Week!

This year, in the Spirit of a Better Bates Together, we will be raising money for the Bernie Carpenter Fund.

Week of June 2 – June 6

To aid us in raising funds, Human Resources has partnered with the College Store on campus to extend the 20% off employee appreciation discount for the entire week leading up to Enrichment Week, which is June 2nd through June 6th. If you would like to contribute to our fundraising efforts, here is what you can do:

• Shop in person at the College Store between June 2nd and June 6th
• Use your 20% off employee appreciation discount; normal exclusions will apply
• When checking out at the register, tell them you would like to add as little as $1 to your total amount
• All funds raised will go directly to the Bernie Carpenter Fund to benefit our amazing colleagues across campus

Shout out to our amazing College Store for extending the 20% discount to a whole week and supporting us in raising money for this incredible employee benefit!

Week of June 9 – June 12

During the Community Lunches on Tuesday and Wednesday, boxes will be placed at the 5K registration tables where funds will be collected if you can’t participate at The College Store. Cash only, please!
