Our process: The Bates Center for Purposeful Work surveyed the Class of 2024 at graduation and again in December 2024 to determine members’ postgraduation plans. In addition to this survey, data was collected through email, social media, and person-to-person communication, resulting in a 87% response rate. 


Many 2024 graduates chose to stay close to Bates — and many more found opportunities around the country and around the world.

Many students who pursue law school do so after working professionally for several years.

Just six students direct applied to law schools, and half of them matriculated for the fall after graduation.* Not all alumni reach back to Purposeful Work for help with law school applications. Of those who did, 81% (26 of 32) were admitted to at least one law school.
