Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

Fitness Center Attendants are responsible for the overall safety, cleanliness, and organization of the Davis Fitness Center and Merrill Gym “BAR”. Perform daily operations responsibilities that include: monitoring access control, equipment maintenance and cleaning, equipment check out, customer service, and safety.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor with facility access control, safety and security
  • Perform assigned cleaning responsibilities to maintain sanitation of the facilities and equipment
  • Rack and return all weights and accessories after use
  • Serve as a spotter for Fitness Center users
  • Lead Fitness Center Orientations when needed
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of, communicate and enforce all guidelines and procedures
  • Complete reports and safety audits related to maintenance and risk management
  • Be attentive to and report equipment issues to Student Manager and/or supervisor
  • Perform facility equipment issue to members and maintain daily equipment inventory
  • Complete training and regularly utilize the following software programs: WhenToWork, OneNote, Connect2, GoogleDocs
  • Maintain a safe, enjoyable, secure, and clean environment for members, guests, and staff
  • Attend all staff meetings, in-services and trainings
  • Uphold the mission and values and be an active representative of the Department of Athletics
  • All other duties assigned as by the supervisor and other Athletics staff

Responsibilities


Work environment can be warm and noisy at times. Physically demanding and requires the ability to: climb stairs; push, lift and carry heavy load; stand for long-durations.

Requirements


Requirements:  Must hold current certifications in American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider/AED and First Aid or have the ability to obtain within the first 30 days of employment (Athletics will provide trainings)  Flexible schedule; hours include mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and summer if available (minimum of 5 weekday hours or two shifts per week)  The ability to effectively monitor and communicate to members, guests, co-workers, and professional staff while maintaining a high standard for customer service and safety;  Punctuality, detailed, ability to meet deadlines; Good oral and written communication skills  Ability to lift at least 45 pounds  Weekends scheduled on a rotating basis (not included in 5 weekday hours)
