Surplus Furniture

Facility Services runs a surplus furniture program that allows for campus furniture no longer needed in one department to be reused by another department at no cost. An inventory of furniture in good condition is kept at Cutten Maintenance Center and added to the gallery below. Furniture items are posted for approximately sixty days before being donated to local organizations or otherwise disposed of. Please note, this furniture is only available to be used in an on campus setting, and not available for personal use at home or by students in residence halls. 

If you see something you like in the gallery below, please contact Facility Services to arrange a time to view the furniture in person by calling us at 786-6449, or emailing facility-work-request@groups.bates.edu. We will work with you to reserve a piece of furniture and arrange for its delivery to your office or department.


If you have surplus furniture or filing cabinets in your office or department that you would like removed, please submit a customer request to have it removed and added to our surplus inventory.

Facility Services is open from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
