Rosanna Ferro, Ed.D.
Vice President for Student Affairs
A member of the college’s senior leadership team, Vice President Ferro is responsible for the full depth and breadth of programs and services in the division of student affairs.

Rosanna Ferro is a visionary and dynamic leader dedicated to shaping the holistic student experience and fostering inclusive, thriving communities within higher education. As the head of the Student Affairs division at Bates, she strategically guides 13 diverse campus life and student services departments, including accessible education, athletics and recreation, community standards, counseling and psychological services, health education and wellness programs, health services, international student programs, off-campus study and study abroad, Purposeful Work, residential life and housing, campus safety, and student activities. Her leadership ensures comprehensive support that empowers every student to excel academically, personally, and socially.
With over two decades of impactful leadership in higher education, Ferro possesses a bold track record of pioneering initiatives that profoundly enhance student well-being, academic performance, and social-emotional development. Her work is characterized by a deep commitment to cultivating environments where every student can discover their purpose and realize their full potential.
Before Bates, Ferro served as the inaugural Chief of Education at College Track, a comprehensive organization focused on college access and completion. Her distinguished career also includes pivotal leadership roles at Rutgers University, Williams College, and as Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Life at Ithaca College.
Ferro earned her doctorate, master’s degree in social work, and bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University. Her dissertation, “Proving Them Wrong: Academically Resilient First-Generation Latinas in College,” identified key protective factors for first-generation student success, underscoring her deep expertise in student development. Through every endeavor, Ferro demonstrates that with dedication, vision, and a deep understanding of the student experience, the potential within each individual can truly thrive.

Erin Foster Zsiga
Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
Erin oversees a diverse team of professional staff members in the areas of Accessible Education and Student Support, Bates EMS, Campus Life, Campus Safety, Community Standards/Student Conduct, Counseling and Psychological Services, Health Services, First Year Experience and Orientation, and Residence Life.

Erin Foster Zsiga, Associate Vice President and Dean of Students at Bates College, specializes in the management of institutional support structures for student wellbeing. With a background in psychology social work and certification in Substance Abuse Prevention from the University of New England, Erin has extensive experience in supporting students through transitions and professional teams through structural changes. Her work focuses on student-centered approaches to resource management with a focus on social justice.
Erin has significant experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating programs that serve as a foundation to the student experience at Bates. In her capacity as Dean of Students, Erin oversees a diverse team of professional staff members in the areas of Accessible Education and Student Support, Bates EMS, Campus Life, Campus Safety, Community Standards/Student Conduct, Counseling and Psychological Services, Health Services, First Year Experience and Orientation, and Residence Life & Health Education.
Tasked with managing the transition from a campus-based to community partner-based healthcare model, Erin works closely with local healthcare officials to ensure high-quality care and integration of medical services within the academic environment. Erin earned a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration and a B.A. in Psychology and Religion from Merrimack College.

Stacey Bunting
Director of Athletics
Stacey oversees athletic and recreation programs and facilities for the college including varsity, club and intramural teams, sports communication, sports medicine and strength and conditioning.

Bunting brings more than two decades of leadership experience in collegiate athletics and a proven track record of strategic innovation, stakeholder engagement, and championing student-athlete success.
Bunting comes to Bates from Princeton University, where she serves as senior associate director of athletics for external relations. In that role, she has overseen strategic communications, brand management, and engagement efforts across 38 varsity programs. She also serves as a sport administrator, supporting both program operations and student-athlete development. Her collaborative leadership has helped elevate Princeton’s brand presence, drive revenue growth, and strengthen connections with alumni, fans, and the broader community.
Bunting has also held senior leadership roles at the University of Delaware and the University of Miami. Her accomplishments include launching nationally recognized brand strategies, guiding multi-million dollar capital initiatives, and leading major communications campaigns. At each institution, she has championed inclusive leadership practices, contributed to department-wide diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, and mentored students and early-career professionals through both campus and national networks.

Allen Delong, Ph.D.

Bates Center for Purposeful Work helps students identify and cultivate their interests and strengths and provides opportunities for them to acquire the knowledge, experiences, and relationships necessary to pursue their aspirations with imagination and integrity.

Allen leads the Bates Center for Purposeful Work, which brings together in one place, under one philosophy, a set of programs and functions that have until now been divided between the Purposeful Work program and the Bates Career Development Center. He has served as a faculty member or administrator at large, Research I universities and small, private liberal arts colleges over the past 25 years. A native Mainer from “The County,” Delong holds a Bachelors from the University of Maine; a Master’s Degree from the University of Vermont and a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. Allen works with students and alumni interested in education, community and non-profit work, and entrepreneurship.

Darren Gallant, Ed.D.
Associate Dean and
Director of the Center for Global Education
The Center for Global Education facilitates opportunities for students to study away from campus both abroad and domestically and provides programs and services to our international student population.

Darren R. Gallant Ed.D. has served as the Associate Dean and Director of the Center for Global Education at Bates College since 2019. Darren manages the Global Education department which serves international students and coordinates the off-campus study programs. Darren’s primary functions include the off-campus study program and the Short Term Off-Campus/Extra Cost courses. Prior to joining Bates, Darren served as the assistant director of study abroad at Brandeis University. He has held various roles in higher education at Wheelock College, Grinnell College, Columbia University, Wentworth Institute of Technology, and New York University. Darren contributes to the field of international education through service, professional presentations, and membership on various board, including NAFSA and the Forum on Education Abroad. Darren received his Bachelors from Brandeis University in politics and sociology, a Masters from New York University in higher education administration, and a Doctorate of Education from the University of Illinois – Urbana Champaign. In his free time, Darren likes learning languages, making stained glass, running, and spending time with his dog named Paw Paw.

Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs
Nora leads and supports initiatives and projects within the office of the vice president for student affairs, and provides executive support to the Vice President.

Nora brings 20 years of higher education experience to her role with student affairs. At Bates she is responsible for support of initiatives and projects within the office of the vice president for student affairs, and provides executive support to the Vice President. Having previously worked at Dartmouth College and the University of New Hampshire, Nora specializes in operations management, logistics, event and conference management, and process improvement.
Nora has both a master’s in leadership and a master’s in public administration from the University of New Hampshire and is lean six sigma green belt certified.

Vince Bellina
Information Technology Program Manger
Vince manages the wide range of purpose built software that the departments in student affairs use to achieve their missions and helps to build technology based solutions that improve service delivery.

Dedicated to giving Bates students the most efficient and effective service, Vincent leads the implementation of information technology systems in Student Affairs.
He received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Pace University and went to teach middle school mathematics in Louisville, Ky., for five years. After earning Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer credentials from Sullivan University, Vincent worked as a tech support manager for the University of Louisville and later for the University of New England. Most recently, he worked for St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center as the director of IT security and technology.

Faith Hauger
Administrative and Information Technology Coordinator
Faith administers the Student Emergency Fund, coordinates the Bates Care Collaborative, provides administrative support to the Office of Community Standards, and the Office of the Dean of Students.

Faith joined the Bates community in November 2015 and is responsible for many administrative functions across Student Affairs. These tasks including but are not not limited to the direct support for the Dean of Students and the VP for Campus Life as needed, Administrative Support for TIX and BCC teams and the coordination of the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards correspondence. Faith enjoys the wide variety of tasks associated with her position and the many ways it connects her to students, faculty and staff.
As a proud Mainer and first-generation college student, Faith earned a bachelor’s degree in International Business at Thomas College in Waterville, ME and has completed coursework toward a Certificate of Graduate Study in Creative Leadership and Global Strategy. She held several positions in admissions and continuing education at Thomas before providing 13 years of administrative support (including Program Coordination and Office Management) to multiple agencies providing children’s behavioral health services in Maine.
Outside of the office, Faith spends her time with her husband and teenage son maintaining their 1860s farm house and enjoying the beauty that is the state of Maine with their local Scouts BSA Troop and Cub Scouts. Faith also enjoys spending time being creative in her home stained glass workshop.

Molly Newton ’11

Molly Newton (she/her), a 2011 graduate of Bates, serves as the Senior Associate Dean of Students. She is responsible for the the holistic support of students across a variety of Student Affairs offices. Molly supervises the Offices of Accessible Education and Student Support, Community Standards, Health Services, and Well-Being. Together with the teams in these areas, Molly works to support students in navigating the challenges of college life, as well as the moments of joy along the way. Molly received her Master’s in Social Work at Smith College where she specialized in community responses to substance use and psychosocial capacity building for young adults. Prior to graduate school, Molly received her Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and geology from Bates College. Before joining Bates professionally in 2015, Molly worked with students at Bard College at Simon’s Rock and Lasell College, and provided clinical support to patients at Boston Medical Center and Boston Healthcare for the Homeless.

Kim leads efforts to strengthen an inclusive, vibrant, and healthy campus culture at Bates — partnering with various stakeholders to design and support comprehensive student-leadership development programs, late night social events, and advising student clubs and organizations, including Student Government, Chase Hall Programming Board, the Bates Outing Club, and the Bates Student newspaper.
Kim received a bachelor’s degree in English and political science from the University of Massachusetts at Boston. She worked for several years in college museum and library settings in Boston and in Burlington, Vt. Kim also served as a resident tutor at Harvard College’s Eliot House, where she organized community-building events and coordinated academic advising for students.
After earning a master’s in higher education administration from Boston College, Kim undertook program development and retention initiatives at Massachusetts Bay Community College. She recently served as the Associate Dean of Student Services at Central Maine Community College, where she oversaw academic advising, student activities, and student government, and developed large-scale campus programs, including orientation.
