OAC: Concert Assistant (S9649B)

Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

The Concert Assistant will be responsible for overseeing a variety of production details for concerts that take place in the Olin Arts Center concert hall. Duties may include such tasks as: distributing concert programs, ticket collection, student ID collection, locking practice rooms, operating lights, procuring necessary equipment and stage furnishings, stage management, audio/ video capture, uploading of audio and video, sound engineering, monitoring the Olin lobby to accommodate late seating, occasionally assisting in recording happening in the hall, and maintaining quiet during performances, .

The Concert Assistant will be expected to have in interest in concert production. This student must be able to do some lifting (chairs and stands).

 

Specific responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

  • Assisting the Student Concert Manager
  • Setting up the concert halls for performances
  • Attending to performers’ various needs during the concert and intermissions
  • Handing out concert programs
  • Ushering audience members to their seats
  • Audio/ Video Recording
  • Operating sound equipment

EXPERIENCE: The Music Concert Assistant ideally will have some related experience or formal musical background, particularly previous participation in public concerts or theater productions.
