Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

The Assistant Digital Editor assists in the upkeep and maintenance of the website, newsletter, and social media accounts. They work alongside the Digital Editor to assist with all digital projects. They are also responsible for helping to upload content every publishing week, which includes creating new posts and pages on WordPress, copy and pasting headlines, articles and captions from Word documents and InDesign files, as well as uploading and formatting photos in each article.

Qualifications, Requirements, and Responsibilities

Responsibilities


Assisting the Digital Editor with website management, newsletter, and social media duties. Be able to respond to Slack messages quickly and effectively, especially if there is breaking news that needs to be posted to the social media feed. Be able to use (or learn quickly) WordPress and InDesign.

Reports to Digital Editor

Working Conditions


Weekly staff meetings, (1 hour), Weekly check-in with Digital Editor (if needed, 30minutes - 1 hour), Assisting with the newsletter (1 hour) Independent work throughout the week such as website maintenance, Social Media posting and responding to DMs (1-3 hours). It should be noted that time may vary depending on the publishing cycle.
