Summary, Scope, and Responsibilities

Organization Mission:
Campus Activities & Traditions (CAT) oversees major large-scale events, small scale events, traditions and programs on the Bates campus designed to meet the eclectic interests of Bates students and create a lively, inclusive community. CAT oversees and plans events over the course of the academic year.

Purpose:
To coordinate student activities, entertainment and events in conjunction with Office of Campus Life and other organizations to put on the highest, fullest level of programming for the college, and meet and reflect the eclectic interests of the Bates students body and community.

Summary:
Charged with planning and hosting day time social programs and events for the Bates campus community. They will offer events and programming for any day of the week during the day or before 9:00pm.

Qualifications, Requirements, and Responsibilities

Responsibilities


Attend weekly CAT meetings, plan and host weekly events and programs during the week before 9:00pm, work closely with the other members of CAT to make sure the event has appropriate staffing needs met, and maintain a budget for events

Requirements


Must be organized, responsible, personable, and enthusiastic about student-led and -driven programming. Must be able and willing to work with a diverse group of students and staff. Must be able to respond to office communications in a timely manner (no more than 24 hours except under special circumstances). Should have excellent finance and budget management skills. Should have an exceptional ability to multitask and engage in time management. Must be able to adhere to established project deadlines. Should have an awareness of Bates social life, and a vested interest in events and programming.

Reporting


Reports to the Coordinator for Campus Life Programming, works closely with other members of CAT and other campus partners as appropriate.
